First day back, What are our goals?

Welcome back to term 2! Room 9 has started off with a bit of testing in order to find our next steps for maths. The test will help us identify our gaps and what we need to learn for term 2. 

When room 9 tests we do not see it as a bad thing! We use it as a point of reference to develop our knowledge further. Although it must be said that it's not always the funnest thing to do on your first day back! Well done room 9 for giving it a solid go!

Let's go to the Zoo!!

Room 9 has recently entered a competition to have a free class trip to the zoo! All we had to do was make a short video about our ideal animal enclosures. Check out our video below.

Welcome to 2019

Room 9 has started off with a bang this year. For the first month they have really had a large focus on PB4l values within Wesley Intermediate. Learning how to be respectful in all environments and covering the core principles of Respecting self, others & the environment. Recently we have started looking at culture and how we can take a step towards learning another culture in a safe environment. So all students have picked a language aside from English, and we are in the process of using this language in everyday conversations. The idea is to incorporate and expose room 9 to a multitude of languages. Some of the most popular languages students have chosen in room 9 are Tongan, Spanish & German. See below for some cool videos that can help you learn how to introduce yourself in these languages.

FORT DAY!!!!!!

Wet day? Kids distracted by lightning? Need help?

Why not build forts with your students. Who said a class needs to have a normal layout? and what is a normal layout anyway!

Room 9 had heaps of fun building their forts and were the quietest I think they have ever been. Think of the benefits for their learning when they feel comfortable and safe.

Through Space and TIme!

This term room 9 has been investigating space and planetary systems. They have done a tone of work and it has been great seeing these budding scientists learn about the complexities of space and planetary systems. During this process Room 9 students were given a goal of presenting their findings to the class. Some however chose a different approach to presentation. Above you will find our space video, a first attempt by room 9 to make a educational video. Below you can see some of the photos from our presentations and displays that were created. Ako Hiko Film Festival Entry

Room 9's film festival entry

For the last two months Room 9 has been in the process of shooting and editing it's film for the Ako Hiko film Festival. Please view and let us know what you think. Room 9 has done really well to film a quality film and have done a lot of learning around how films are made. It was a great collaborative project and was a lot of fun. Highly recommended for any Ako Hiko schools to participate in the future!
